In May 2025, the NHEAT project team, comprising researchers from CNR-IGG (Pisa) and Sapienza Università di Roma (Roma), carried out an extensive field campaign in the Voltri Ophiolite Massif, located in the Ligurian Alps of northern Italy.
During the expedition, the team collected numerous samples of gas, hyperalkaline waters, and rocks for geochemical and isotopic analysis. Structural mapping of the massif was also performed. The integration of geochemical, isotopic, and structural data aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the massif’s potential for natural hydrogen generation.
We look forward to sharing further insights and results as the project advances.
